DreamHack Winter 2017

DreamHack is the world’s largest digital festival. DreamHack’s core and origin is the LAN party. The events are a platform for esports, knowledge and creative competitions, music acts, lectures by game developers, Internet and game culture, cosplay, the fair DreamExpo and much more. DreamHack Winter 2017 is open for all ages but may contain content like tournaments, exhibitors and partners showing games and other material not suitable for all ages.

Doors open: 08:00 CET, Friday 1st December
Opening ceremony: 16:00 CET, Friday 1st December at the Main Stage
The network goes down: 08:00 CET, Monday 4th December
The electricity goes down: 08:40, CET, Monday 4th December
All participants must be out of the Elmia Fair: 10:00 CET, Monday 4th December

DreamHack has a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY for any kind of harassment including but not limited to; demeaning language, threats, hate crimes, intimidation, non-consensual photography or recording, stalking, inappropriate physical contact, unwelcome physical attention as well as statements or verbal exchanges that threatens or expresses contempt of ethnicity, religious belief, sexual orientation, citizenship, appearance, body size, age, disability and gender identity.

Alcohol and drugs in any form do not belong and are not allowed to be taken onto DreamHack premises. People intoxicated and/or under the influence of drugs/other non-allowed substances will not be allowed on the premises, at any time. People found intoxicated and/or on drugs will be shown off the premises. Smoking is strictly forbidden indoors and is only allowed in designated area outside. Electronic cigarettes is not allowed to use inside of DreamHack.

DreamHack History

DreamHack was founded in November 1994 by Kenny “K2-ICE” Eklund and Martin “DH_Admin” Öjes. They rented the local school cafeteria in the small city Malung and invited their computer entusiast friends to join them for a weekend of coding and hacking, the event attracted 40 people and had no Internet connection.

Today DreamHack is the World’s largest digital festival. DreamHack’s core and origin is the LAN party, with the two major festivals in Sweden – DreamHack Summer in June and DreamHack Winter in November. DreamHack also arranges festivals, events and competitions in several locations in Europe and North America. The events are a platform for esports, knowledge and creative competitions, music acts, lectures by game developers, Internet and game culture, cosplay, the fair DreamExpo and much more. DreamHack is also a production company with a focus on gaming, esports, music and arena productions for both traditional TV and the Internet.

Key Facts and Numbers

In 2007 DreamHack was awarded with a Guinness World Record for “Guinness World Record of no of computers in a LAN” with 10 455 connected devices in the network. At DreamHack Winter 2015 the network had 23425 unique devices in the network, the largest DreamHack Network and LAN ever built.

  • DreamHack Winter 2015 crew consisted of 809 people.
  • During 2015 DreamHack broadcasts reached 210 million stream starts from 100 million unique viewers who watched over 95 million hours.
