Quake Champions

With the upcoming release of Quake Champions, DreamHack and Bethesda are excited to announce the Quake Champions Invitational at DreamHack Winter 2017 with a $350,000 prize pool.

DreamHack is thrilled to once again see Quake return to the festival, keeping a 12 year tradition alive. Over the years, Quake has been featured as an esport title at several DreamHack events, with over 25 competitions held throughout its history. With the upcoming release of Quake Champions, this fine tradition continues!

Results

Sacrifice

The team tournament in Sacrifice started out with 12 teams placed in three different groups with a group stage format. Established teams like Team Liquid, Stacked and winrar license salesmen – who had previously participated at the Quake competition at DreamHack Denver – was represented at the tournament.

Despite the line-up of, one team would show a dominating performance through the whole tournament. Team Liquid went through the group stage and playoff without losing a single map during the whole tournament, ending their run by defeating Stacked in the finals. Liquid’s map score? 17-0.

Prize distribution

1st $70,000 – Team Liquid
2nd $40,000 – Stacked
3rd $25,000 – Modus Operandi, Team 2z

Duel

Having already won Sacrifice with Team Liquid, Tim “DaHanG” Fogarty moved on to play the Duel final against his Swedish opponent Johan “toxjq” Quick. DaHanG managed reach the grand final by knocking out his team mate rapha in the previous round.

Warmed up from his Sacrifice games, DaHang started with an even game against toxijq on Blood Covenant, ending 3-2 to the American. After that, DaHang started showing great confidence and reflexes, taking Corrupted Keep 3-0, followed by a 3-2 victory on Ruins of Sarnath. Winning the series 3-0 earned him first place and $50,000 USD.
