Costuming & Cosplay Rules

We have a general set of cosplay rules that ensure that we are all working to showcase the kind of cosplayer that makes their own costumes, and wants to show the world what they got! Due to restrictions we ask that you check out all the rules below, and if you have any questions please contact us: support@dreamhack.se

Costume should be made solely by the contestants. Pre-fabricated parts can be used but original work is prefered and will be favored by the judges.

Costume must be based on a computer game, videogame, anime, manga, comic books and entertainment franchises. The design must be based on an officially published work. Original characters will unfortunately not be considered for the show.

Cosplay contestants may wear masks when performing on stage, in connection to official photo shoots or within a reasonable time period before and after performances. Masks are prohibited outside of the cosplay competitions.

Catwalk rules

The DreamHack Cosplay contest will be a catwalk show showing of your most awesome costume.

  • The time you have on stage is approximately 30 seconds, or less if you prefer.
  • The catwalk impact will also weigh in to the assessment of your cosplay.
  • You will be handed a number in which you will walk up in order to the stage.
